Can anyone advise me why crown court buildings in the UK are designed in the way as detailed in the photos I've attached (Guildford/Wimbledon/Southampton)? Specifically with the building itself set far back from the pavement? And the entrance being tucked down a walkway rather than adjacent to the road? I assume this is some kind of security measure?
